Learning and development

We pride ourselves on nurturing our talent, providing real career prospects and maximising the performance of everyone in the business.

As you’ll see in ‘What’s it like to work for Anglian Water Business? many of our colleagues have enjoyed extraordinary career progression throughout their time with us.

You’ll find there are plenty of opportunities to progress here and if you fancy trying something new, we can accommodate that too. We’re a large organisation with opportunities in everything from customer service and marketing, to finance and technical services.

And even if climbing the career ladder isn’t on your agenda, we’ll still give you the chance to expand your skills and knowledge.

Here are a few examples of our commitment to support your learning and development needs:

Induction training

We provide a full induction and training programme for all new starters. The programme is designed to give you a good understanding of our company, our culture and how we work, and, ultimately, help you settle in as easily and effectively as possible. It is tailored to the area of the business in which you are working and takes place over a number of weeks, it is not a one-day event.

Bespoke training programme

In addition to the comprehensive induction training, we will help you develop and progress your career with a bespoke development programme which is aligned to your aspirations and reviewed at regular appraisals. As well as building your knowledge through our internal learning, you may also have the opportunity to complete specialist external training relevant to your role.

Learning management system

We have our own online learning management system, which covers a great variety of mandatory (e.g. health and safety at work) and optional courses that you can choose from. All our courses are regularly updated so your knowledge will always be in line with the latest developments.

Each programme is made up of a series of modules covering different aspects of the required knowledge and skills for the business area, and it consists of a combination of system and process classroom-based training including practical elements. We work with our training and educational experts to support the training.

Giving our people the chance to enjoy a fulfilling career with Anglian Water Business could also mean providing opportunities for internal secondments across the organisation. Depending on your role, you may have an opportunity to break out into another business area to get to know the new teams and experience the working environment first hand.
